LGB eSports have announced they will not be making the trip to Bucharest next weekend. Additionally, the team confirmed that Olof "olofm" Kajbjer has joined on a permanent basis.
HLTV.org was informed that LGB eSports, a squad which represented Greek organization Refuse until recently, won't have financial support needed to attend the event in Romania that is set to take place on September 14-15th.
eksem's squad won't be making the trip to Romania
LGB turned some heads last week in the MSI Beat it! European qualifier when they managed to beat Copenhagen Wolves and Astana Dragons, as well as put up a great fight against NiP and ESC.
In the end they even moved on to the playoffs ahead of Astana Dragons and ESC thanks to round difference, which leaves them in the running for a spot at the finals in Shanghai, China.
We talked to the team's captain Mikail "eksem" Bill about the situation surrounding their departure from Refuse and the Bucharest trip:
"Well the thing is that when we joined Refuse they said that we could go to 3 local lans and 3/4 international events. When Dreamhack Summer was nearby they fixed some money, but the sponsor did some bank transfer fail so the money wasn't supposed to be in our bankaccount until after Dreamhack.
"So we talked with the sponsor and said that we could borrow money from another organisation, the sponsor said "Yes you can, we will send the money one week after Dreamhack so you can pay it back".
"So we lend the money. After one week we tried to talk to the sponsor but they didn't reply and all Refuse said was "we can't do anything about the money situation". So today I owe this organisation money and Refuse didn't help me even though they said they would.
"After a while we got the invitation for Dreamhack Bucharest and I talked to Refuse and I got the response "Oh, nice job, we will fix the money asap" and we waited and waited.
"About 2 weeks ago Refuse came to me and said "Alright I have fixed money", so I asked how much it was and got the answer "500$ + gear + tshirts". 500 dollars is only enough for ONE person. So we decided to leave Refuse and then we started LGB eSports"
However, eventually the team was unable to find needed support to attend the upcoming $15,000 event in Bucharest, Romania.
He also added that they officially confirm that Olof "olofm" Kajbjer has joined the team in place of Marcus "windster" Andersson. Kajbjer has been the team's best player in MSI Beat it! European Finals so far, recording 0.84 kills per round and a 1.24 rating.
"We're proudly announcing that olofm is a part of our team, he is a really good player and a good piece in our team.
"But unfortunally we can't attend Dreamhack Bucharest because we don't have financial support, it's really sad for us to announce.
"If we somehow are able to fix this money we're looking for we will go for sure but as it looks like right now we're not able to do so.
"Otherwise I'm happy that people actually cheer for us now and I will with confidence say that we will attend the next LAN event."
LGB eSports have the following roster:
Mikail "eksem" Bill
Olof "olofm" Kajbjer
Freddy "KRiMZ" Johansson
Alexander "SKYTTEN" Carlsson
Andreas "maxAki" Andersson
The Swedish team was supposed to play against Astana Dragons, Natus Vincere and local side myRevenge in Group D of DreamHack Bucharest, but now the organizers will be forced to find a replacement.
